Iron Cross
The Iron Cross is the highest military award in Germany: the iron cross, a silver border frames, was established by Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia in 1813 during the wars with Napoleon. During the Second World War, Hitler added a Nazi swastika to the cross, it was officially removed in 1957. In heraldry, this form is called the "form" or "Patten" (French for "foot") because of its shape, resembling four paws.
